What is creative arts therapy and how does therapy with a child work?

Children speak through art and play! Using art and play in therapy helps the child work through their issues in a friendly, familiar, comfortable and developmentally appropriate way.  Kids can learn to use these tools to communicate their feelings.

Working with a trained art therapist, like myself, I can help your child to develop essential coping skills and learn to safely express their feelings, allowing them to better navigate through trauma, grief, and even self-regulate challenging emotions.

Through the use of art and creative play in a therapeutic setting, children not only learn about their feelings but they use the art and play to help express big emotions, in a safe way, learning effective and lasting coping skills.

As a child therapist with a specialized, clinical training in therapeutic art and play, I employ these creative techniques not only for therapeutic intervention but also as essential tools for assessing the child's needs and behaviors. Through these creative modalities, I can gain a comprehensive understanding of the underlying issues, which enables me to individualize my approach effectively.

I provide a fun environment for the child to explore and grow; with my aim to equip both the child and the parent with the necessary tools to achieve success both at home and in school.

Throughout our time together, I work collaboratively with parents, ensuring that the support extends beyond the therapeutic sessions with the child. This collaborative approach yields lasting outcomes, fostering more harmony within the home environment.

My commitment to a supportive and safe atmosphere underpins all aspects of my work, creating a space where positive growth and healing can flourish.

Through my expertise as a child therapist, I am dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of the children and families I serve. My goal is to guide each child towards greater emotional well-being and improved personal expression, leading to a more fulfilling and enriching life.

Using art and play not only engages the child in the therapeutic process, but it’s a proven effective tool to help them work through the challenges and help them internalize lasting solutions.
